Why Companies Outsource

"Wal-Mart is opening stores all over the world and hiring people to man them. The Wall Street Journal reports the company added 100,000 employees outside of the U.S. last year. How is the company supposed to staff its stores unless it hires nationals who live there and speak the language? Should Wal-Mart be forced to pay higher taxes, which is what the president wants, for growing and competing overseas?"

  1. Personally I believe that Wal-Mart should pay higher taxes for growing and competing overseas. The United States is currently unstable, if companies begin to move their corporations over seas the U.S. will suffer. To prevent this or provide some sort of revenue for their home country, companies should be faced with higher taxes from the goverment.

  3. I feel like this article is merited in its criticism of outsourcing, however, I feel that it somewhat makes the issue dramatic, specifically in the impact outsourcing has on the middle class of America. I believe that middle class jobs are not the ones that are being outsourced as the article speaks of Wal-Marts outsourcing.

  4. If not middle class jobs, which jobs, do you think, are being targeted?

  5. I dont believe that companies should have to pay higher taxes. Higher taxes might give companies incentive to save money by cutting workers and outsourcing more jobs.

  6. there should be a law that stores pay higher taxes and that money can not come directly out of workers paychecks and doesn't wal-Mart have the lowest prices, so i'm sure they can afford it.
